Mysterious Love

Mysterious Love

Waking early to filtered light
Cast by an intruding morning sun
I pause to study your face
And wonder which dreams you chase

Morning light has a way of flattering
A way of enhancing your grace
Even with locks a mess
Your beauty shines clear

With closed eyes hiding the gateway
To a soul I think I know
A look of peace and mystery remains
To radiate in a special glow

Still I wonder
What dreams you chase
As I consider our life together
And my need to know you better

Perhaps it is the mystery
The hints of intrigue
That captures my thoughts
And imagination

In any case
Waking next to an angel
Is an extraordinary mystery
And like heaven on earth

Memories of our first kiss

Memories of our first kiss

If I could relive only one moment in time
And remember every detail
It would have to be our first kiss
When we met so long ago

The moment when my world
Grew into a fantastic white glow
Drowning out time itself
Leaving us alone

The sound of your breath
Slightly louder than your heart
Restrained a whisper
Or perhaps a moan

The warmth of your skin
Radiated so close to my lips
Tempting them to move forward
To unite with your own

The slightest purse your lips offered
Signaled your willingness
To engage with mine
As I edged closer

The slightest touch registered
As my eyes wanted to close
But my mind refused
To yield to the desire

For I wanted to remember this moment in time
Pressed deep in my heart
And preserving the memory forever
Of our first kiss

From Survival to Winning

From Survival to Winning

I am a survivor
And refused to yield
Or compromise
Less I forget

While the days of my youth be gone
And my final days ahead are nearer
The goal I seek and strive for
Remain the same as ever

For it never is the final goal
I treasure every day
But it is the daily goal
Of which I have a say

Today I will succeed
And not just survive
But stretch the boundaries
Of the time I can control

THE BOOK OF LOVE

THE BOOK OF LOVE

If I only had the ability
To write the book of love
And mastered the possibility
Sought by everyone in love

Perhaps I would rest forever
And my love would remain with me
In a happy every after
And settle my unknown fears

However, I do foresee the future
And all of the traps ahead
And never doubt our future
Because I still can count on love

For I know without a doubt
Our love has been added
In this book of love
Extended into a never ending story

OUR LOVE

OUR LOVE

There is a special world for you and me
With a special bond no one can see
But secures us as if in a cocoon
Hiding us away from the outer world

Inside this world we’re totally free
To express our love without restraints
Or fears of retribution of any kind
Which might arise in other worlds

And as we grow and mature
A love to great to be hidden inside
Our special place we live
Our love will emerge one day

Much as a beautiful butterfly is born
We will emerge as one
Destined to explore new worlds
But confident in the love we grew

THE MEETING

THE MEETING

I know you’re there—somewhere
Waiting for me to find you
To finally see you face to face
But where among the multitudes

I focus on one face in the crowd
And blink my eyes in disappointment
Frustrated I push forward in vain
Hoping for a miracle to happen

While my heart continues to beat faster
And I know I should breathe slower
My feet do not listen
Or my eyes diminish their search

For while people pass me as a blur
And a suffocating fear of the unknown
Overtakes me as I panic
I fight back the hard cold reality

I press on in spite of the obstacles
Looking for only one
Knowing you are here somewhere
Hopefully looking for me

Then, I stop and stare
Your face is much like I suspected
An angel in the midst
of a world so out of place

A RECEPTIVE HEART

A RECEPTIVE HEART

When your heart stays open
And love is allowed to flow
The universe will answer
Your call to find true love

To keep the skies bright and beautiful
In contract to the dreary ones you fear
The sunlight and warmth of the sun
Must find a way inside

A broken heart may be tender
And protection the order of the day
But once you brave the light
The chances of love resume

And as long as there is hope
And the world supports you
The chances are
Your chances are very good

So take the risk
And be so brave
Because the risk of failure
Is doing nothing at all

SNUGGLED

SNUGGLED

Resting under the sheets
Snuggled into a perfect world
My eyes open to observe the darkness
Cloaking my existence

My world is hidden here
Deep inside this barrier
Perfectly protected
Perfectly at peace

For here I’m allowed to roam
To visit places in my mind
I’ve visited in real life
Or invented on my own

For dreams I might not control
Anymore than the real world
But in this middle world
I have complete control

But it is not a lonely world
Far from it
I listen to gentle breathing
From one so close

For while my love does sleep
And rest for another day
I can stand as a guardian
And dream while still awake

For in order to rest
I need to know I have someone
Someone who loves me
As much as I love them

For while my love does sleep
A smile forms upon the face
Of an angel drifting off in space
Leaving me to guard a heavenly body

After offering a gentle kiss
I close my eyes
And drift to sleep
Secured in love

A reflection on poetry

A reflection on poetry

Rather than writing a poem today, I thought I would reflect on poetry and why people like to write it and why people like to read it.

First, it is a great way to make a message easy to understand and in a form that is suited to be impressed in ones memory. Before the time of printing, people e used it to teach people a message they would remember forever. This is really the goal of any story teller.

Second, poetry allows a great ability to show deep emotions more than any other form. It is like given the ability to let go. To tell a feeling much easier than in a real life or novel type story.

Third and last in this reflection is the ability to use new words forced on the poet to make the story rhyme. I have often heard that many professional novelists will read poetry to gain a richer vocabulary. I agree, it allows a special relaxation while building words that can be used later.

To make a point I remember one simple poem I learned in college and think of every time I go to a public rest room. It is also good to post at home if you have teen age boys. I would give credit to the poet if I knew who wrote it, but I don’t.

If you sprinkle
When you tinkle
Please be neat
And clean the seat

ONE PERSON–ONE WORLD

ONE PERSON–ONE WORLD

For in the far reaches of the world
Where millions of people live
And hide from the cold
Yet hard fact of being alone

One has to wonder
Why one can be so alone
When there are so many
Calling this place home

But then to this world
You might be just one
A lonely voice in the night
Looking for another

So while you are looking
Hoping to make your life count
And leave your marking
To be noticed without a doubt

You have to remember
To the world you are but one
A single voice you hear
In a world of many million

But instead of despair
Or feelings of rejection
Remember one saying
So wise and true

To connect with one person
One very special person
Can be so much more
Than the millions alone

For in just one person
You can be the world
And because of one person
You can find your world
